It is a seaside suburb blessed with a gorgeous beach epic live music venues and the all-time favourite Luna Park. 1 However little is known of the early history the first written record of which dates from the late 14th century when John of Fordun mentions the isle of Irte which is agreed to be under the Circius and on the margins of the world. On a map of 1592 it was used for the St Kilda archipelago.
